MSU among top universities for study abroad participation, international student enrollment

For the fifth year in a row, Michigan State University leads the nation in study abroad participation among public universities in the United States, according to Open Doors 2009, the annual report on international education released Nov. 16 by the Institute of International Education.

Photo and essay contests showcase international interests

Each November during International Education Week, the winners of internationally themed photography and essay contests are announced. Coordinated by various offices at International Studies and Programs, these contests give MSU students, faculty, staff and alumni the opportunity to share their international experiences and raise awareness throughout the MSU community. MSU celebrated this year’s International Education Week Nov. 17-21.

MSUFCU endowment helps grow MSU study abroad participation

MSUFCU Study Abroad Scholarships benefit more than 130 students per year, and has helped raise the profile of study abroad to more than 250 programs in 60 countries on all seven continents. To date, 371 students have been named MSUFCU scholarship recipients.

MSU fifth in Peace Corps alumni volunteers overall, tied for fifth in 2008 rankings

Since the inception of the Peace Corps in 1961, 2,101 Michigan State University alumni have served as volunteers, making MSU the No. 5 producer of volunteers overall, according to recently released Peace Corps rankings.
