The Women’s Resource Center provides an integral service for women faculty, staff and students on Michigan State University’s campus. As the center’s educational program coordinator, Jodi Roberto Hancock coordinates workshops and events to help women and other students.
“The way I like to describe what we’re about is that we help women be successful in reaching their goals while they’re at MSU with different programs and events that are targeted towards different audiences,” said Roberto Hancock.
Roberto Hancock also works with a variety of committees on campus including the Women’s Initiative for Leadership Development, a student group which plans the annual MSU Women’s Leadership Conference. This year’s keynote speaker is MSU alumna Ingrid Saunders Jones, senior vice president of global community connections for the Coca-Cola Company and chairperson of the Coca-Cola Foundation.
The center provides a library of books, videos and DVDs related to gender issues to help faculty with its classes and students with research projects.
“We really try to promote the status of women on campus through recognitions and awards, making sure women are at the table, and that they’re given the same equal opportunities as men,” said Roberto Hancock.
