Four years ago, Kevin Sedatole came to the Michigan State University College of Music to be the new director of bands.

Between the Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Concert Band, Spartan Marching Band and Spartan Brass band, among other various groups and concerts, the start of the school year has kept him busy.

Since coming to MSU, Sedatole has helped bring a new concert to the College of Music.

“Collage III” is a fast-paced, multiple ensemble concert that takes place both in front of, around and amidst the audience. There are no breaks for applause and the short pieces keep the environment lively and engaging. The concert is in its third year and will take place at 8 p.m. Oct. 2 in the Cobb Great Hall at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts.

“Many universities do this type of concert,” Sedatole said. “They’re so popular with the public because you get to see an overview of the entire program, with as much variety as we can possibly put into it.”

As the “Collage III” concert coordinator, Sedatole is eager to see how the future of the concert along with the entire music program plays out.
