Michigan State University hosts opening of new Detroit facility

MSU's newly leased 22,000-square-foot building, located at 3408 Woodward Ave., will host music classes for Detroit youth and will serve as a new headquarters for College of Education teaching interns.

WHAT: Michigan State University will celebrate its partnerships and strengthened presence in Southeast Michigan with an opening event for MSU Detroit Center. 

The 22,000-square-foot building will house Community Music School Detroit and classroom and meeting space for MSU College of Education teacher candidates who are placed in Detroit classrooms for their required fifth-year internship. MSU’s admissions, advancement and government affairs offices also will have space in the building.

Guests will tour the new facility, experience live performances by students from the MSU College of Music and sample music education and therapy activities. Speakers will reflect on the university’s ongoing commitment to Southeast Michigan and discuss the deepening connection between MSU and the region.
