LANSING, Mich. - Blue Care Network announced Sept. 15 that it is in the process of acquiring the Physician’s Health Plan of Mid-Michigan.

Since MSU currently offers medical plans through both Blue Cross Blue Shield and PHP, the decision eventually will impact some employees and retirees. However, no immediate changes are expected.

MSU employees and retirees enrolled in PHP should continue to use existing PHP cards, provider networks and customer service processes. The acquisition will require regulatory approval and will not take effect immediately. PHP services are expected to remain available through the end of the MSU plan contract year (June 2010).

As the acquisition progresses, Human Resources will continue to follow the process closely and will update MSU employees and retirees as necessary.
