A paper by Taps Maiti, professor of statistics and probability at Michigan State University, and his collaborators has been chosen to be featured in the biometrics "showcase" session "Breakthroughs in Bioinformatics and Statistical Genetics" at the 2010 Joint Statistical Meeting.
The paper, "Linear Mixed Model Selection for False Discovery Rate Control in Microarray Data Analysis,” will be featured at the meeting set for July 31-Aug. 5, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Biometrics is a journal of the International Biometric Society. The Joint Statistical Meetings is the largest gathering of statisticians held in North America. It is held jointly with the American Statistical Association, the International Biometric Society, the Institutes of Mathematical Statistics and the Statistical Society of Canada.
Maiti joined the staff of MSU in 2008. A member of the Department of Statistics and Probability in the College of Natural Science, Maiti’s research interests are small area estimation, sampling, Bayesian methods, multilevel modeling, biostatistics and bioinformatics, and social and environmental health statistics.
