Adam ElBenni, a Grosse Pointe political science/pre-law junior serving in the office of state Rep. Larry Julian, was chosen as the 2004 Daniel Rosenthal Legislative Intern Award winner.
A ceremony will be held at noon Tuesday in the Mackinac Room, 5th floor of the House Office Building, 124 N. Capitol, in Lansing.
One of MSU's first legislative student interns, Rosenthal died in June of 1977. The Rosenthal family established the award to pay tribute to the dignity of his life and acknowledge the value that he placed on his internship experience.
The runner-up “Ehlers Internship Award,” named for its benefactor U.S. Rep. Vern Ehlers, will be presented to Gretchen Morr, an MSU education senior from Grand Ledge who works in the office of state Sen. Beverly S. Hammerstrom.
Douglas B. Roberts, former state treasurer and current interim director of the MSU Institute for Public Policy and Social Research (IPPSR), will speak to award winners and nominees on the importance of legislative interns and of political leadership.
The awards are jointly administered by MSU’s James Madison College and IPPSR, and co-sponsored by MSU Spartans Under the Dome.
