Group to discuss economic impact of half-billion dollar federal research project

EAST LANSING, Mich. — A high-powered advisory committee, whose charge is to attract the half-billion dollar Facility for Rare Isotope Beams project to Michigan State University, will hold a public briefing at noon Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Detroit Athletic Club, to discuss the potential economic impact of the project.

 

What: 

Members of the FRIB Leadership Advisory Committee gather at the DAC to discuss the economic impact of the U.S. Department of Energy project.

 

Where:

When: 

The meeting begins at noon and is expected to last about 30 minutes.

 

Who:  

Expected participants are MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon; L. Brooks Patterson, Oakland County executive; Ken Way, retired chairman and CEO of the Lear Corp.; Peggy McLellan, secretary-treasurer of the Michigan Education Association; and staff members from the offices of U.S. Rep. John Dingell, U.S. Rep. John Conyers, and U.S. Sen. Carl Levin.
