EAST LANSING, Mich. — Unless they’re driving floats, motorists may want to know how to get around Michigan State University’s 2008 Homecoming Parade.
The following traffic advisory will help motorists avoid traffic backups or find a parking spot during the MSU Homecoming “Go for the Green” Parade at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.
Grand River Avenue between Abbot Road and Bogue Street will be closed from 5:20 to 7 p.m.
The East Lansing High School homecoming parade, which steps off at 5:30 p.m., will head west on Burcham Drive and meet up with the MSU parade. The ELHS parade will follow the MSU parade until Bailey Street, where it will head north to the high school to finish its route.
Bailey Street will close from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.
Abbot Road between Burcham Drive and Whitehills Drive will be closed at 4 p.m.
All other road closings and detours will be in effect Oct. 3 from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Traffic traveling east or west can avoid Grand River Avenue by taking Mount Hope Road, Saginaw Street, Lake Lansing Road or Interstate 96.
