East Lansing, Mich. – Kresge Art Museum's 50th anniversary is kicking off the new year with an exhibit featuring 130 art pieces, including some that are rarely on display.
Art Museum Director Susan Bandes reflected on the museum's collection history while standing next to its newest acquisition - a Hudson River School painting from the mid-19th-century.
The rest of the exhibition features a wide selection of paintings, photographs from five continents - the oldest dating from the 6th-century B.C., as well as Old Master and 19th-century paintings, and modern and contemporary works in a variety of mediums.
Kresge Art Museum is located in East Lansing on the first floor of the Kresge Art Center at the intersection of Physics and Auditorium Roads between the Alumni Chapel and the Michigan State University Auditorium on the campus. Museum hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday until 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
